Welcome to Elementals Gaming : 2001-2011
Elementals Gaming (Elementals or :e: for short) was founded in
Starsiege in 2001. Now, we are online gamers seeking to enhance the gaming experience of ourselves and those around us: by building communities, creating new and interesting maps and other in-game assets, and simply being fun to be around. Short on formality and demands, long on friendship and lasting strength, Elementals seeks more mature, intelligent, and like-minded gamers. Elementals Gaming is interested in intelligent, mature, casual gamers who are easy to get along with and enjoyable to be around. We are also interested in people who will be active in the community and remain a part of it for (at least) many months or (preferably) years.
- The following steps are required for all members.
- Registration on the wTc (the site you are now on).
- Posting an application on the comments below, and the application being reviewed by a command rank member. (Click Add Comment at the bottom of this page.)
- Connection to the wTc IRC channel.
- Adding guild tags in games that support them. Membership in squads or other organizations is encouraged, but the Elementals tag must be in front with no colors applied. Removal or defacing of tags may be construed as quitting Elementals Gaming, particularly in the Starsiege Element.
- (Earth and Beyond Element) Joining the Elementals Gaming in-game guild.
- (Starsiege Element) Permenantly applying the Elementals Gaming tag in game in the correct format, which is :e: Name.
- Approval of membership by the elementCommander of the branch or an Admiral.
- Please note we do not have major expectations on your time or activity, however, active Elementals members are expected to be reasonably available for interacting with the community (e.g. in IRC) and to keep us apprised of their interest and ability to play the games they are engaged in. We have a Reserve pool (see below) for those who are not engaged in Elementals games or other activity.
The Ghosts Starsiege Expansion 2 is a set of integrated mods, worlds, and campaigns currently under development by a team of volunteers from Elementals Gaming. It is our primary gaming project.

An Element is an active, official game branch within Elementals Gaming. An Element may be created, with the Admirals' approval, for any game that fits the following criteria:
- Online multiplayer Windows-compatible PC game.
- Does not require a subscription fee to play or interact unhindered with other players.
- Is not illegal or a violation of the game's Terms of Service. (Examples of disallowed games include MMOs running on private servers.)
- We are particularly interested in quality retro games approaching "abandonware" status.
Elements have specific requirements for personnel. At all times, an Element must retain the following
active positions:
- Four fully-active players who are in regular contact with the community (e.g. via IRC) and are willing and able to play the game in question at least weekly.
- elementCommander: Oversees an Element. An eC must be approved by and in regular contact with the Admirals, only lead on Element, and be available at least twice weekly for administrative tasks.
- Any active member within the Element may perform one or more of the following duties, including the eC.
- ORB: Maintains the Element's roster below. This page must be verified and dated by this member or the eC at least twice monthly.
- ORC: Recruits new members to the Element; such members must fulfill the joining requirements above.
- ORD: Maintains regular communication with all active Element members and apprises the ORB of their status on request.
- ORE: Provides technical support to Elementals members interested in playing the game in question.
If any of the criteria above are not met, the Element will be placed in
Cryo by the Admirals or
Disbanded. There may be no more than eight Elements.

A Tetrax ('trax, tet, quad, squad, band, clan, etc.) is a group of four to eight active members who share at least one game. Tetraxes are assigned by the Admirals, elementCommanders, or ORDs based on player availability. A Tetrax may choose or be granted unit colors (a unique logo), a motto, and unique names within the various Elements it plays. A Tetrax starts out as four Primary members (who may be swapped in and out as necessary) who share a single game, and may add up to four additional Secondary members from the Active pool to cover other games. Tetraxes may be used for intra-Element games and other events.
Rank System
- SPIRIT is the initial rank of an Elementals Gaming member, granted upon completing the joining requirements.
- Tag (optional): :e: [S] Name
- Requirements: Completion of recruiting tasks detailed above.
- FORCE is the second of four non-command ranks within Elementals Gaming. (This rank was formerly Element, but the name was changed to avoid confusion with our term for game branches.)
- Tag (optional): :e: [F] Name
- Requirements: Six weeks reasonably active participation and exemplary behavior.
- TEMPEST is the third of four non-command ranks within Elementals Gaming.
- Tag (optional): :e: [T] Name
- Requirements: Six months reasonably active participation and exemplary behavior.
- MASTER is the highest of four non-command ranks within Elementals Gaming. (This is a new rank.)
- Tag (optional): :e: [M] Name
- Requirements: Two years reasonably active participation or successful discharge of a substantial project as a misssionCommander or six months successful term as an elementCommander or Admiral.
- MISSIONCOMMANDER is a command rank granted to a member who is leading a project team containing at least two other people that is expected to take at least ten man-hours per person to complete. Such a project must be submitted to and approved by the elementCommander of the branch or the Admirals. If the project is substantial, the missionCommander is granted the rank of Master upon completion. If the project stalls, the Admirals may return the missionCommander to his previous rank.
- Tag (optional): :e: [mC] Name It is recommended that a missionCommander in a game other than that his Mission applies to uses the tag :e: [c] Name instead.
- Requirements: Detailed above.
- ELEMENTCOMMANDER is a command rank granted to the leader of an element, or game branch. New elements and elementCommanders must be approved by the Admirals. An elementCommander has the responsibility of maintaining Elementals Gaming's interests in his game, including behavior, maintenance of services (such as portals on the wTc), advertising, recruitment, and diplomatic relations. An elementCommander remains in the position as long as the Admirals deem the branch to be sufficiently active and serving Elementals Gaming's interests, after which point a successful elementCommander is granted the rank of Master.
- Tag (optional): :e: [eC] Name It is recommended that an elementCommander in a game other than his own Element uses the tag :e: [C] Name instead.
- Requirements: Detailed above.
- ADMIRAL is the highest command rank and is generally held by one of the founders of Elementals Gaming, though it may be temporarily assigned to another member at the Admiral's discretion should he go on leave or require assistance in managing the organization. The Admirals are responsible for the entire organization and serve as the final tier of decision-making.
- Tag (optional): :e: [A] Name
- Requirements: Detailed above.

Mission Statement, 2004
We are the Elementals... We are not a faceless mob where all that counts is our name and the numbers on the scoreboard... We do not seek the glory, nor the victory, nor the power. If such things come to us, we will accept them quietly, but our purpose is greater. We are people, tied by friendship, gathered by community, united in spirit... We are the Elementals, and we will be telling our stories long after these games we now play have passed away... In June 2001, four of us began our story in the game of Starsiege. We grew into a family, founded a community, and now our story continues as we expand into other realms. If you seek a squad, clan, guild, or tribe that remembers its people, that plays for fun and not for the scoreboard, and which has a friendly community that stands strong behind you in whatever you do, Elementals may be right for you.
